21st century managers are beginning to realize the importance of soft skills in the organization. Soft skills are a combination of skills that employees possess to help their personal and interpersonal relationships some examples include listening skills and emotional intelligence. Research has shown that employees with high emotional intelligence are better performers at work. It is worthy to note that soft skills are not a replacement of core skills like critical thinking skill or analytical skills rather it is an addendum to achieving the overall management objective.
Certain methods exist to help develop soft skills such as practicing, developing a learning mindset, self-assessment as well as feedback.
