VIU Attends Uzbekistan Independance Day Celebration at the Embassy of Uzbekistan

On Wednesday, October 3, 2018, Dr. Suleyman Bahceci, EVP for University Advancement and Dr. Ron Kovach, VP for Academic Affairs represented Virginia International University (VIU) at the Uzbekistan Independance Day Celebration hosted by the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Washington, DC. The Uzbehistan Independance Day celebration marks the 1991 Uzbekistan declaration of independence from the USSR.

The VIU attending delegation had the opportunity to meet with the Uzbekistan Ambassador to the United States, Ambassador Javlon Vakhabov, as well as with several Uzbek officials to discuss potential academic collaborations between VIU and universities in Uzbekistan.

VIU is strategically engaged with its international partnership initiative aimed at fostering academic collaboration between VIU and partner institutions overseas. The university currently has over 100 active MoUs with overseas partner institutions and is deeply committed to international collaboration in the area of student and faculty exchange as well as joint degree articulations.
