VIU’s traditional fall Faculty Meeting kicked off the new 2018-2019 academic year with over 50 faculty and administrators gathered together for university-wide and academic updates as well as the opportunity to meet with colleagues and school deans.
Dr. Ron Kovach, VIU’s Vice President for Academic Affairs, opened the academic gathering with an introduction to new Academic Affairs team members and an overview of the evening’s program. Several speakers from various areas of the University provided updates covering VIU outreach efforts, student attendance, online education and academic highlights. VIU’s diverse faculty reflects its student body, with faculty representing countries from around the world.
After general University updates, faculty had the opportunity to meet with colleagues and deans in their particular VIU schoools including the School of Business, School of Computer & Information Systems, School of Public & International Affairs, School of Education, and School of Language Studies.
VIU’s Academic Affairs organizes several faculty meetings during the course of the academic year with the aim to remain engaged with its teaching community and to provide important updates and professional development and training opportunities.
