Dr. Robinson shares his journey to his career in Marketing.
My interest in marketing came by accident. During my tenure at Exxon Mobil beginning in the 1990s, the company was revising its corporate brand and had brought in an external consultant, Professor David Aaker. He had just published his second book, Building Strong Brands, and had given me a signed copy, which I still have today. That book was the catalyst that piqued my interest. From there I completed my MBA in Marketing and then my PhD in Marketing. A good marketer has to use a variety of skills including persuasion, influence, informing, and educating customers.
