After much consideration, the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS) has selected Dr. Suleyman Bahceci and Ms. Christina Koonts to present at the 6th Annual ACICS Conference in Ft. Worth, Texas on May 11-13th at The Worthington Renaissance in Sundance Square.
Their presentation is titled “Enhancing Relations with Multicultural Students.”
“Building appreciation for differences is the key in blending multiple cultures, religions, traditions, and customs for the international student,” explain Dr. Bahceci and Ms. Koonts. “At Virginia International University we use an evolving system of mentoring, volunteerism, and social interaction to build awareness and sensitivity to our differences and our commonalities.”
Dr. Bahceci is the Executive Vice President of University Affairs at Virginia International University. His commitment to improving the quality of STEM education prompted his involvement in education reform and advancement.
Ms. Koonts is Associate Vice President of Institutional Effectiveness and Quality Assurance at Virginia International University. Her broad background in education gives focus to her research in economic development, comparative politics, and humanitarian policy.
ACICS is the largest, and oldest, national accrediting organization of degree-granting institutions. The conference will focus on reinforcing the connections between educational quality, institutional effectiveness, and student success and is open to all ACICS members and leaders of the post-secondary education sector.
