On Thursday November 3, 2011 the School of Business and President Dr. Isa Sarac welcomed the Ambassador of Nepal, Dr. Shankar P. Sharma to Virginia International University to address students, staff, and faculty. Kolawole Bakare, an International Business student from Nigeria said, “I am currently taking a course in Comparative Government and the Ambassador summarized the major points of the course, which for me was a great advantage. It gave me a clear picture and greater understanding of government systems.”

“Entrepreneurs and private sector are very important to all countries growth,” said Dr. Sharma. He also highlighted the importance of countries that outsource services, raw materials, and energy. “If you cannot outsource, you cannot compete on the global market”.

Prashish Shrestha, IT Manager at VIU and Nepal native said, “It was a great honor to meet the Ambassador and have the opportunity to have him speak to our students. We are grateful to Dr. Sharma for sharing his experience about globalization and insight of Nepalese economics; I believe his relative knowledge will greatly impact our students.”
Bhagyashree Kulkarni, an MBA student from India talked about the relevancy of the Ambassador’s visit. “The message from Dr. Sharma filled my knowledge gaps in understanding the definition of Competitiveness and Globalization and how they are closely connected.
